Pick a year to see when Advent begins, how many evenings you’ll have before Christmas, and which Sunday lights each candle.
Just start tonight. You can catch up on the story over a weekend, or simply pick it up from here.
Many families light a pink candle on the third Sunday, for joy. The white candle in the middle is lit on Christmas.
Advent is the four Sundays before Christmas, so it always begins on the Sunday closest to November 30, somewhere between November 27 and December 3. That’s why the date moves every year, and why it often isn’t December 1, when most Advent calendars start.
It also means the number of evenings changes, anywhere from 23 to 29 depending on the year.
Advent Together gives you a reading, a question for each age, a prayer, an activity and a small way to serve someone, with your kids’ names on every evening. A linocut Nativity builds tile by tile on your fridge, and if you miss a few nights it helps you catch up.
